Explore Tatra Mountains—the highest Polish range that offers breathtaking views and enjoyable hikes in unique scenery of Tatra National Park
Day 1 – Arrival at Zakopane
We leave Krakow in the morning and reach Zakopane in the afternoon to be accommodated in a hotel with view over Tara Mountains. We then take a walk to the
centre of Zakopane village, the most famous highland resort in Poland. As part of this tour you see some of the best examples of local style architecture. We then take a funicular to Gubalowka Hill (1126m) where you taste typical Polish food in one of Zakopane’s highland restaurants with splendid view over Tatra Mountains.
Day 2 – Under Regle Trail
On the second day, we take an easy trail through the colorful mountain valleys of Western Tatra Mountains. The trail leads through the forest, via Białego Valley, which astonishes with various dolomite and lime stone formations. From the Bialego Valley through the Red Valley we reach Sarnia Skala from where we cherish the formidable view over famous Giewont mountain, resembling a lying knight, the symbol of Zakopane. From Sarnia Skala, we get to Strazyska Valley and neaby Siklawica Waterfall, to enjoy this beauty of nature. Afterwards, we head towards Zakopane village.
The trail’s length is 4-5h.
Day 3 – Gasienicowa Valley and Lake – bike & hiking
Gasienicowa Valley is well-known for its beautiful, scenic tourist trails. On the third day we take an electric bike and travel 6,4 km through Gasienicowa Valley until we reach Murowaniec Shelter (1505m). There we take a short break and continue our tour hiking up to the Gasienicowa Lake, enchanting, postglacial Tatra Lake, surrounded by the sharp peaks of Orla Perc range with high peaks of Koscielec (2,155m), Kozi Wierch (2,291) and Granaty range. We relax at the lake for about 1-1,5h and return to Murowaniec shelter. In late afternoon, we return back to the base.
The trail’s length is 4-5h.
Day 4 – Trail to the Valley of Five Lakes and Morskie Oko Lake
On the fourth day, early in the morning, we get to Palenica Bialczanska where we start a scenic 4,5h trail through beautiful Roztoka Valley towards one of the most magical and unique corners in the Tatra Mountains – the Valley of Five Lakes. On the trail you see the waterfalls, including highest waterfall in the Polish Tatras – Siklawa. Once you get to the top you can rest at the shelter – the highest mountain hostel in the Polish Tatras (1670m). From the Valley of Five Lakes we take a 5h trail (through Swistowka Roztocka) to the Morskie Oko Lake (“The Sea Eye”), 1395m. This postglacial, emerald-green lake is considered to be one of the most famous and gorgeous mountain lakes in the world. Situated at the Rybi Potok Valley surrounded by rock peaks of Tatra Mountains, its crystal clear water mesmerizes everyone who sees it. We spend the entire afternoon at the lake where we can also have a traditional Polish meal in one of the oldest wooden shelters in the Tatra Mountains. From Morskie Oko Lake we either walk back or take a horse carriage back to Palenica Bialczanska.
The trail’s length is 8-10h.
Day 5– Red Peaks Trail
On the fifth day we take an easy but long traverse of the Red Peaks (4 summits over 2000 m), a picturesque tour on the main ridge of the Tatras. The starting point is Kuznice where we take a cable car to Kasprowy Wierch. The Red Peaks take their name from unique colours in autumn and it is a really rewarding hike as the scenery over the Tatras are amazing!
